NHL Utah officially down to six finalists for their team name and logo
Today the NHL franchise that has relocated from Arizona to Utah has announced the six finalists for their name and logo going forward.
The Utah NHL franchise has come together incredibly quickly. Over the last two months the team has announced they were moving and started a team name voting poll. Today that poll was narrowed down to six team names which are as follows Utah Blizzard, Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC), Utah Mammoth, Utah Outlaws, Utah Venom, Utah Yeti.

This post by David Pagnotta confirms that the Utah team will indeed use the state name instead of the city name of Salt Lake. As for the team names and mascots the Blizzard, Mammoth and Yeti are three names that were popular amongst social media in the first place.
From initial fan reactions on X it seems as though the Yeti will be the next name of the Utah hockey team. However, with an entire round of voting to take place, this could change. In the coming weeks it will be interesting to see if the team announces the new name for this season or if it will come in 2025-26 instead.
