A teammate has responded after Connor McDavid was harassed by Edmonton Oilers fans while trying to buy some beer following the team's WCF victory.

With the Edmonton Oilers on their way to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2006, talk has pivoted to how fans are treating the star players of the team. In particular, Connor McDavid.

A video recently posted to social media shows fans hounding McDavid as he tried to buy some beer following his team's win in the 2024 Western Conference Final. McDavid tried to keep his head down and power through as much as possible, but the fans didn't make it easy.

"Can we get McDavid some private security? Jesus leave the guy alone"

This has led to talk over whether a teammate should be accompanying McDavid, one of the league's biggest stars, when he runs errands for the team. Teammate Stuart Skinner was asked about that by reporters. He said he wasn't even aware of the incident in question, but has no doubt McDavid can take care of himself.

"I don't even know what you guys are talking about. He is a big boy, I don't have to look after him. I think he's probably a little bit stronger than me. Well no, that's not true. I'm much, much stronger than him"

Most hockey fans have condemned the actions of the fans in the video. Star NHL players are used to dealing with fans, especially in hockey crazed markets like Edmonton, but this went far over the acceptable line.

"Give the guy a little bit of spacebe excited, be happy for the team, be happy for McDavid. It's a unique moment to get a chance to meet him, but go about it a little less obnoxiously." - Edmonton Sports Talk host Tom Gazzola

The 2024 Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Florida Panthers gets underway Saturday night.
