The Boston Bruins will lose several pieces of their roster this summer, but one player, notably defenseman Derek Forbort is confirmed to be leaving the team.

While it was already a given that forward Milan Lucic would not be returning, following criminal charges served to him by his soon-to-be ex-wife Brittany, we have now learned that former 15th overall pick Derek Forbort will not be getting an extension with the Boston Bruins.

Forbort has played three seasons in Boston, and has gone from a lineup staple to a #6/#7, only having played just over 30 games in 2023-24. He will likely go to a team that needs more bodies in their lineup with experience.

Per @TheFourthPeriod
, Derek Forbort will test free agency on July 1 and will not return to the #NHLBruins
