NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed what it will take to get done for the Vancouver Canucks to acquire Hurricanes' forward Martin Necas.

It's all but done regarding Martin Necas and his future in Raleigh after contract negotiations have hit the floor, and with the player wanting number one centre duties, the Hurricanes can't offer that.

The Vancouver Canucks have been linked to Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas for a bit now and it looks like the Canucks are amongst the many suitors in line for the Czech forward with the likes of the Montreal Canadiens, Seattle Kraken and Philadelphia Flyers. Here is a breakdown of how a trade can occur between the Canucks and Hurricanes according to insider Elliotte Friedman.

Elliotte Friedman and the #Canucks trying to get Martin Necas: It is a harder deal to do with no Pettersson in deal like last time, The Canes will want top prospects, Hronek won't do it. It is a hard deal to do.

Dhaliwal: «What are you hearing on the Canucks and Necas?»

Friedman: «The ask is big, I don't think Hronek is going to get it done. I think they're going to need to attach some of their top prospects. The talks are not the same as they were around the deadline.»

Safe to assume the Canes want beyond Hronek, with prospects like Jonathan Lekkermaki and Tom Willander amongst the most hot commodities. It is unlikely the Canucks part with one of those players for the 25 year old forward.
