After an exceptional performance in the Stanley Cup playoffs, New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin's lofty contract demands have now been released publicly.

Igor Shesterkin had a dominating performance with the New York Rangers during this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. The goaltender managed a 2.28 GAA and .927 save percentage before being eliminated in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals by the Florida Panthers.
"The Rangers lose 2-1 in Game 6. Their season ends with a Presidents' Trophy and franchise record in wins but no Stanley Cup.

The Panthers move on to the Cup Final."
Despite the season ending short of victory for the team, Shesterkin has managed to stay at the forefront of contract negotiations for the Rangers this summer given the fact he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season. According to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, the 28-year-old goaltender and his camp are now aiming higher than any NHLer in his position has.
"There's reason to believe that Shesterkin's camp is aiming for as high as $12 million a year, which would be a NHL record-setting cap hit for a goaltender."

Despite the enormous hit this contract would make to the team's cap, many fans and analysts find this player's price not too off base. Like many fans and analysts, Rangers reporter Vince Mercogliano asserted on the Jeff Marek Show that he believes deserves to be among the highest-paid goalies in the league.
"He deserves to be among, if not the very highest-paid goalie in the league."
The final decision on whether or not Igor Shesterkin can get an annual $12 million out of the New York Rangers will have to wait. However, in all likelihood, we could be looking at the next highest-paid goalie in the NHL.
