The Toronto Maple Leafs decided to bring in Craig Berube this offseason to replace Sheldon Keefe and Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper has commented on it.

Craig Berube has his work cut out for himself in Toronto this offseason as he will look to turn the Maple Leafs around and bring them back to a Stanley Cup.

Rival coach Jon Cooper knows what it takes to bring a team to the Stanley Cup as he did it back to back in 2020 and 2021. Cooper has commented on what Berube brings to the Maple Leafs and it is quite high praise.

"I have a solid friendship with him. I hate when these guys come into our division and I'm buddies with them. But I think he's a hell of a coach. I think he gets the best out of his players."

"Honestly, I thought Sheldon Keefe did a heck of a job there. We played him the last two years in the playoffs and they were a hard team. But Craig will be a different voice for them."

"He's an honest coach. If fans of the team want to get the most out of their players and have them... I know the way he's going to play and it's going to be hard to play against. But the one thing he'll make sure he gets out of the guys is an honest effort. That's what Craig does."

Berube's addition to the Maple Leafs organization comes with quite high expectations as he is a championship-winning coach himself. We will now await the 2024-25 season to see what Berube does for the Leafs and if he is able to block out the outside noise and win a championship.
