The Toronto Maple Leafs have begin to talk about a contract extension with the pending Unrestricted Free Agent Tyler Bertuzzi.

The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta revealed today that the Maple Leafs' general manager Brad Treliving and Tyler Bertuzzi have started to talk about a contract extension.
He shared that new development on X:
"It's still very early in the process to project where this will go, but the #LeafsForever have started contract discussions with pending UFA winger Tyler Bertuzzi."
Bertuzzi struggled to have an impact in Toronto when he first started. But when he found his rhythm, performed well; tallying 43 points in the regular season and four in the playoffs. What makes him stand out is his ability to make others around him better.
An analytics page even suggested that the Leafs should offer him a five-year, five million AAV deal, like players such as Nino Niederreiter, Tyler Toffoli and Gustav Nyquist have:
"While fan perception of Bertuzzi was up and down this season due to some lulls in point production, Bertuzzi was a very solid winger who made multiple core members better when they played with him. If they can get him between 5-5.5 AAV, it would be a smart signing. #LeafsForever"
