The Great One Wayne Gretzky got in a great one of former player turned analyst Paul Bissonnette last night while the two appeared on the NHL on TNT
No.99 Wayne Gretzky may not have played an NHL game for quite a while, but he apparently still loves taking shots. He got in a really good one on colleague Paul Bissonnette last night while the two were appearing in the NHL on TNT panel.
Bissonnette played just over 200 games in the NHL during his career, but it was in no way because of his offensive prowess. Gretzky made sure to remind him of that while the panel was discussing what player's jersey they would want right now based on their 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs performance. Bissonnette said he would take New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin.
Gretzky isn't exactly wrong. Bissonnette played in four NHL postseason games during his career, all of them with the then Phoenix Coyotes. In what could be considered a snapshot of his playing days, Bissonnette has no goals and no assists in those four games, while amassing 15 minutes in penalties.
"Paul Bissonnette answered 'Igor Shesterkin' when asked whose jersey (out of any player) he would pick. Wayne Gretzky immediately clapped back with 'why? Because you have the same amount of goals.'
Biz was murdered on live TV LMAO"
Bissonnette doesn't seem to mind at all being the brunt of many jokes while on the panel, and he's a good sport for it. While no one can take away the time he spent in the NHL, Bissonnette seems to be a much better broadcaster than he ever was a hockey player, and has made quite a career out of it with podcasts and regular appearances as an analyst.
