The New York Rangers will be without the services of defenceman Jack Johnson for the remainder of the season. According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Johnson has successful sports hernia surgery on Friday, and will be out of the lineup for the next three-to-four months, with a full recovery possible by June or July.

Johnson suffered a groin injury earlier in the season, and was out for nearly three weeks. He came back into the lineup, and played in eight games before he must've reaggravated it.

The 34-year old signed a one-year contract worth $1.15 million with the New York Rangers on the first day of free agency after being bought out by the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 13 games this season, Johnson had 1 point (1 G), 8 penalty minutes, and was a -5.

In 950 regular season games with Los Angeles, Columbus, Pittsburgh and New York, Johnson has 303 points (71 G, 232 A), 529 penalty minutes, and is a -119. In 30 career playoff games, the Indianapolis, Indiana native has tallied 21 points (5 G, 16 A), 16 penalty minutes, and is a -18.
