For all intents and purposes, it appears the Buffalo Sabres have traded goaltender Jonas Johansson. The third round pick in 2014 will become a member of the Colorado Avalanche. The return isn't known yet as the trade is on hold due to Buffalo's situation regarding COVID-19 after recently playing the Boston Bruins, who have had five players enter COVID protocol. As for The Athletic's John Vogl, who has been covering the Sabres for close to two decades, he doesn't think Colorado is getting much.

"Jonas Johansson is likely going to Colorado, according to Kevin Weekes," said Vogl. "I can say without hesitation that the Avs are getting the worst goalie I've seen during my 19 seasons covering the Sabres."

"He doesn't stop pucks in practice or games," added Vogl.

Johansson has played in seven games for the Sabres this season. He has no wins, a goals against average of 3.79 and a .884. He's played a total of 13 games in the NHL, with a career GAA of 3.39 and a .888 SV%. Not great, to say the least.

So, why would Colorado give up something for Johansson? The team is in a bit of a bind right now as Pavel Francouz is on long-term injured reserve with no timetable for his return. Philipp Grubauer is handling the bulk of the starts with Adam Werner serving as backup. Werner has played a total of just two career NHL games, so the Avs are looking for some depth between the pipes as teams start preparing for the playoffs.

Once the return is officially known, it's doubtful Colorado will give up much to obtain Johansson. That's likely for the best, if Vogl is anywhere close to correct in his assessment.

Update: the return for Johansson is a sixth rounder.
