The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to endure the injury bug, after the Friday's announcement that center Evgeni Malkin will be sidelined for a significant length of time due to a lower-body injury.

Penguins bench boss Mike Sullivan dropped the news following Pens practice on Friday afternoon ahead of Saturday's tilt with the Devils in New Jersey.

"When you lose Geno, it's a tough loss from our standpoint for everything that he brings to our team," said Sullivan. "We're certainly encouraged that we'll hopefully get him back in a timely fashion."

Malkin's injury is currently labelled "week-to-week", but Sullivan was more reluctant to say that he would be out for the remainder of the regular season, which leads us to believe that Malkin may be back before the postseason.

The injury occurred in the first period of Tuesday's matchup against the Boston Bruins. Malkin was limited to just 3:43 of ice-time in the contest.
