Minnesota Wild defenseman Carson Soucy had a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Wednesday and received his punishment for a dangerous hit on Arizona Coyotes' forward Conor Garland.

The 26-year-old defenseman will be forced to sit out Thursday's game versus the Colorado Avalanche after being dished out a 1 game suspension.

The hit occurred during the first period of Tuesday night's 3-0 Wild win over the Coyotes. Soucy was assessed a five-minute major for charging, after leaving his feet and crushing the smaller winger into the boards.

Soucy did not leave the game without some retaliation from the Coyotes, as he was jumped by Coyotes forward Lawson Crouse as soon as he left the penalty box.

Brad Hunt is expected to step into Soucy's spot for Minnesota's next game.
