First matchup of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs confirmed
It is that time of year, and we officially have the first matchup of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs confirmed between the Colorado Avalanche and the Winnipeg Jets.
This matchup is sure to be exciting, given these are two of the best teams in the NHL this season. The Colorado Avalanche have consistently been a team to look out for in terms of Stanley Cup contention. They have Nathan MacKinnon, who has somehow improved his game even more in the latter half of this year and sits among the potential Hart trophy nominees.
On the other hand, you have the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets currently sit at 106 points on the season, ahead of the Avalanche. They have had tremendous success after a rocky offseason which they were at risk of losing some of their stars to free agency. It appears that Mark Scheifele's choice to re-sign with the Jets sparked confidence in the rest of the team, and they have been performing since day one of this season.
This is set to be an electric matchup, with both teams having high speed players up front. The speed will be great, and its safe to say that Colorado will bring a better effort than last night.
