Today the Toronto media and fans got to hear from Matt Murray for the first time in a long time. The Maple Leafs goalie has been rehabbing from bilateral hip surgery and been on Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR). Today he spoke about that process.

After being assigned to the Toronto Marlies earlier this week Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray spoke to The Athletic about his recovery. During the interview he revealed that despite being out of the lineup he was in the locker room, in meetings, and at every game the Maple Leafs played in Toronto.

With Matt Murray being in the AHL he is on a conditioning stint. The plan is for him to get his first AHL start tonight. Once he plays that game he will have 6 days and 3 games before the Maple Leafs will need to call him back up.

Matt Murray, BTW, is expected to start for the AHL Marlies in Syracuse this evening. An LTIR conditioning stint lasts up to six days and three games. Clock started today.

As of now, it remains unclear whether or not Matt Murray will suit up in the playoffs. If not he will continue to be a presence in the locker room and meetings as he has been all season.
