Olli Jokinen had a stellar 18 year career in the NHL, and now he's finally returned to hockey with an interesting new role.

So many NHLers have the talent to transition into coaching, and while some would prefer a front office role, it appears as though former NHL star Olli Jokinen is in the former group.

In a surprise move, the 45-year old has officially been named Head Coach of Timra IK in the Swedish Hockey League, with his role beginning in the 2024-25 season.

Former NHLer Olli Jokinen (@theofficialollijokinen12) 🇫🇮 has signed a two-year deal to become the head coach of Timrå IK (SHL) 🇸🇪 beginning in 2024-25.

Jokinen, 45, played 1,231 games in the #NHL from 1997-2015, putting up 321 goals and 750 points in that span.

Jokinen made his coaching debut with the North Broward Prep Eagles 16U (NJPHL 16U) 🇺🇸 in 2015-16.

He made his professional coaching debut with Jukurit (Liiga) 🇫🇮 in 2021-22, and spent the last three seasons with the club.

Could we see Jokinen coaching in the NHL one day? 👀

With over 1,200 games of NHL experience, the Finnish star has plenty of insight to hand down to future generations, and if his role goes well to begin with, he's still plenty young enough to have a role in the NHL one day as a coach in some capacity.
