St. Louis Blues' Jordan Binnington reportedly hits the trade market
Jordan Binnington has been a warrior in net for the St. Louis Blues, but according to Elliotte Friedman, his time may be up.
The St. Louis Blues are on their way to missing out on the post-season yet again in 2023-24, and it could lead to some major moves this summer. When addressing the Blues on the latest edition of 32 Thoughts the podcast, renowned NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman speculated that it could be Jordan Binnington on the move to shake things up in St. Louis.
"You can tell he wants to perform some surgery, and not minor surgery... we're talking about some major surgery," added Friedman. "He clearly, clearly has the itch to do something here."
"He's got a no trade clause that goes to a partial no trade... so his full no trade drops," began Friedman. "I would be curious about what Armstrong would do here."
"You're not as good without Binnington but it might be your best chance to get something," concluded the insider.
Despite the league wide hatred, Binnington remains a top tier starter in the National Hockey League, and with the Blues likely not competing for a Cup in the next year or two, a move makes sense. Given his reputation around the league, it's tough to see which teams could show interest, but with Buffalo, Ottawa, Toronto, New Jersey and other potential contenders all looking for help in net, this is one place to keep an eye on in the next few months.
