Boston Bruin's head coach Bruce Cassidy is clearly not happy with Washington's Tom Wilson. Brandon Carlo would need help getting off the ice in the Bruins 5-1 win over the Caps Friday night after taking a hit from Wilson late in the first period that Cassidy and many others believe was a check to the head. Cassidy told reporters that Carlo was taken to hospital by ambulance after the hit but wasn't sure if he had a concussion, although that is definitely what he expected.

"You can probably make your own call on that one, considering the hit was directly to his head," Cassidy told reporters.

He also called the hit "completely unnecessary" and "dirty." Here's the hit. There was no penalty on the play.

Update: Wilson to have in-person virtual hearing for hit on Carlo

This hit is causing plenty of debate across social media, which is the norm when there's anything involving Wilson. TSN's Frank Seravalli jumped into the fray, saying he believes the hit was clean.

"This will be an unpopular tweet, and that's fine, because I don't conclude based on reputation or narrative," said Seravalli. "My opinion: Tom Wilson's hit on Carlo is not illegal. Carlo's head is not the main point of contact. Break it down, sure looks like he gets chest/torso first."

Seravalli went on to say that if you don't like the hit and think it shouldn't happen, that would require changing the rulebook because, as far as he's concerned, there is nothing in there currently that would make this hit illegal. Seravalli added Wilson is no longer considered a repeat offender by the NHL because his last suspension came in 2018.

Boston's Brad Marchand called the hit "bullshit" and a "fucking cheapshot." There is no word on any possible hearing with Player Safety for Wilson.
