The Carolina Hurricanes loaded up at the trade deadline to make a Stanley Cup push, and now, they've made another surprising trade.

Carolina trade prospect Jameison Rees to the Ottawa Senators

Just hours after the Senators acquired prospect Wyatt Bongiovanni from the Winnipeg Jets, they've now made another deal, this time with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The #Canes have acquired a 6th-round draft pick from the @Senators in exchange for Jamieson Rees.

The Senators sent a sixth-round pick in 2024 to the Hurricanes, and in exchange they land 24-year old center Rees, who has a bright future ahead. In 65 AHL games a season ago, Rees tallied a solid 42 points, and while he's been less productive in 2023-24, playing in just 37 games between Springfield and Charlotte, he has plenty of potential and was definitely worth a sixth-round pick for the Senators.
