The Calgary Flames completed a trade with the Vancouver Canucks a few weeks ago. One of the players involved in that deal recently shared his thoughts.

Canucks and Flames' Trade: Hunter Brzustewicz Opens Up on his Experience

In February, the Canucks sent Andrei Kuzmenko, Joni Jurmo, Hunter Brzustewicz and two draft picks to land Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames.

It was a sudden change for Brzustewicz. However, it turned out well, as he just signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Flames.

Per NHL.com:

"Hunter is a player that we coveted in his draft year and is having another outstanding season in Kitchener again this year,» said Flames general manager Craig Conroy. «He moves well and sees the ice with great vision and hockey sense. As a right shot defenceman, Hunter provides us with a highly regarded skill set."

Brzustewicz Opens Up on Being Traded From Vancouver to Calgary

The 19-year-old from Washington talked about his experience in a recent interview.

Here's what he said:

"I see more potential here (to play) than I did see in Vancouver."

"Couple months ago knowing Canucks were going to make a big move, I was telling couple of my buddies it would be pretty cool to be part of a trade."

We don't often hear players thinking it would be cool to leave one of the best organizations in the NHL. However, with all the talent on the roster, it's not easy to make it in Vancouver. With the Flames trading away key defensemen in Tanev, Hanifin and Zadorov, they needed to add something at the blue line. While Brzustewicz still plays in the OHL, he'll be interesting to follow at the next training camp.

More to come.
