Tough news for the Toronto Maple Leafs as a key piece of their blueline will be missing some time. According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, Jake Muzzin has a broken bone in his face. It's not clear how much time he'll miss but he'll be wearing a full face shield once he returns.

Muzzin's injury occurred Saturday night in the game against Montreal. Tyler Toffoli's stick caught Muzzin in the face while he was shooting the puck.

Muzzin has been averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per game this season and the Leafs can only hope his injury won't keep him sidelined for long. He has one goal and 11 assists in 19 games in 2020-21.

"It's a big loss for us ... it's a great opportunity for Travis Dermott. I know it's something he has been waiting for," said Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe.

Meanwhile, Zach Hyman and Joe Thornton are also listed as day-to-day. Mikko Lehtonen, Alexander Barabanov and Nic Petan will draw into the lineup Monday night against Calgary.
