St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko has been dealing and playing through a major injury all season. The 27-year-old had not performed up to his expectations, and now it is finally known why.

Parayko was pulled from the lineup last week, as the back injury he was suffering from got the best of him. Currently, he does not have a timetable for return, and surgery is one of the options on the table. It is extremely unlikely he returns to the ice this week, or any time too soon for that matter.

The injury occurred during this season, although exactly when it happened is somewhat unknown.

The Canadian defenseman has played in 16 games this season, tallying one goal and seven assists while being a workhorse in time-on-ice, playing over 22 minutes per contest. He has been tasked with being the top pairing defenseman after Alex Pietrangelo left the team this past offseason to sign with the Vegas Golden Knights.
