The NHL Department of Player Safety announced Saturday afternoon that they have suspended Arizona Coyotes forward Johan Larsson for two games due to a check to the head on St. Louis Blues forward Zach Sanford.

The hit occurred on Friday night midway through the third period of a 1-1 game. Larsson was given a two-minute minor penalty for a check to the head at the time of the incident, but the NHL decided that was not enough. As a result, the 28-year-old will miss tonight's and Monday night's games, which are both against the Blues. In 13 games this season, Larsson has one goal and 11 penalty minutes.

Thankfully for Sanford and the Blues, there was no apparent injury suffered as a result of the hit. The 26-year-old has played in 13 games this year, compiling a goal and an assist. In 56 games last year, he put up career highs with 16 goals and 30 points.
