Ottawa brings back forward in trade with Hurricanes

The Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes have come together to complete a trade on Saturday afternoon. According to Frank Seravalli of TSN, the Senators have brought back 2x 20+ goal scorer Ryan Dzingel in exchange for forwards Alex Galchenyuk, and Cedric Paquette. No salary was retained by either team in the deal.

Dzingel, 28, was drafted by the Senators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 11 games this season with Carolina, he has 4 points (2 G, 2 A), 2 penalty minutes, and is a -2. He spent three and a half years with the Senators, scoring 23 and 22 goals in back-to-back seasons.

Galchenyuk, 27, will be joining his sixth team since entering the NHL in the 2012-13 season. In 8 games this season, he has 1 points (1 A), 6 penalty minutes, and is a -6.

Paquette, 27, had 1 goal, 4 penalty minutes, and was a -8 in 9 games with Ottawa this season. He was acquired by the Senators in the off-season after winning the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2020.
