Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the NHL has sent out enhanced COVID measures today to all 31 teams throughout the league.

This isn't surprising, given how many games recently have had to be postponed due to a large amount of both players and coaching staff being put on the COVID-19 protocol list. Friedman said that some of the measures are asking players to remain at home as much as possible except for practices and games, and have recommended household members of the players limit activities outside their homes. They have also implemented the use of KN95 masks, as well as rapid testing on game days. On top of that, all team meetings will be held virtually, and they are looking into redesigning team dressing rooms to protect any and all players who have not had the virus.

Shortly after Friedman reported this however, his colleague John Shannon came out saying that at this time, rapid testing on game days will only be adopted in the United States. At this time, they are still looking for a solution in Canada.

Everyone knew this season would have bumps in the road given the pandemic, but it has caused even more difficulties than anyone could have imagined. While other professional leagues have been able to make their seasons work, the NHL is struggling right now, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.
