The Arizona Coyotes announced on Thursday that they have terminated the contract of Assistant General Manager Steve Sullivan.

In a brief press release, the Coyotes went on to add that they are not going to fill the Assistant General Manager role this season, and no reason was given as to why Sullivan's contract was terminated.

Sullivan, 46, had been working for the Arizona Coyotes since 2014, where he started out as a development coach. In 2017, he was named Assistant General Manager for the NHL club, as well as General Manager for their AHL affiliate, the Tucson Roadrunners. He also was named interim General Manager for Arizona in July 2020 following the firing of John Chayka, and held the role until September when the Yotes hired Bill Armstrong.

The Timmins, Ontario native was drafted in the 9th round, 233rd overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Sullivan spent 16 seasons in the NHL playing for the Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Arizona Coyotes.

In 1,011 regular season games, Sullivan tallied 747 points (290 G, 457 A), 587 penalty minutes, and was a +93. In 50 career playoff games, he had 23 points (9 G, 14 A), 30 penalty minutes, and was a -10.
