The Ottawa Senators brought in veteran forward Derek Stepan to add some leadership to a locker room full of youngsters, but he may be finding himself out of Ottawa sooner rather than later.

As Ottawa explores the trade possibilities for the 30-year-old, the reason behind the discomfort between both sides has been released. It has nothing to do with his performance as he has 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 11 games playing up and down in the lineup, but it does relate to more personal issues. Stepan reportedly is having an issue with being so far away from his family.

Stepan has 3 children, including a newborn, and visiting them would require him to go through a 14-day quarantine. He has let the organization know that he is uncomfortable being away from his family. There were high hopes from both sides when he first arrived in Ottawa, but sadly it just does not seem like it is going to work out.

Ottawa currently sits last in the NHL's North Division with just 5 points in 12 games (2-9-1). Some roster moves including trades could be on the horizon to hopefully spark something out of the very young team.
