A few minutes ago, breaking news emerged that a former NHLer signed a new deal.

Indeed, Blake Speers has signed a contract in the Elite Ice Hockey League, in the United Kingdom, with the Belfast Giants.
"Blake Speers (@bspeers18) has signed a one-year deal with the Belfast Giants (EIHL).

Speers, 27, is an NHL veteran of five games played from 2017-2022. The majority of his professional career has been spent in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Speers had four goals, 14 points through 38 games played with Vasteras IK (HockeyAllsvenskan) 🇸🇪 last season.

With this move, he transitions from the 10th-best league in the world, to the 15th-best league in the world, according to our global league rankings" - Puck Empire

Speers, 27, was drafted 67th overall in 2015 by the New Jersey Devils. He played five NHL games for the Devils and the Coyotes.
