Many thought the Boston Bruins would regress mightily this season, especially after Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, the team's number one and two centres, retired in the off season. While the Bruins are not running the league over, as the team is third overall in the league, they are still first in the Atlantic division and Eastern conference.

Insider reveals big information about Bergeron and the Bruins

On the latest "Spittin' Chicklets" podcast Ryan Whitney claims that Bergeron is going to make a come back this season and sign with the Bruins:

According to Whitney, Bergeron has been spotted skating in the Boston area quite a few times. He did note that he was told that Bergeron likes to skate and stay in shape for alumni games, but he thinks he is skating for the reason of returning.
Whitney states that Bergeron is likely getting up to speed so he can join and sign with the Bruins in late February, as he plans to join the team for one more run in the playoffs. This could be legitimate as Bergeron likely feels disappointed with how the Bruins' playoffs ended in failure, especially considering how they played historically good in the regular season.

Can the Bruins fit Bergeron in the line up and under the cap

Despite running mainly Morgan Geekie, Charlie Coyle, and Pavel Zacha as the top three centres, adding a player of Bergeron's calibre would sure add to the Bruins' power this season. Considering Bergeron is one of, if not the, best two-way centre to ever play hockey, his presence and play would be a massive add.
Boston has just over $2 million in cap space, so if they were to sign Bergeron he would have to take a deal under $2 million or the Bruins would have to trade a player to make room. There is also an option to sign Bergeron to a similar deal as last year: a smaller salary with a differed bonus to next season.
