This league has just suspended an extremely popular enforcer for repeat incidents, and this is the reason they gave.

Amesbury Suspended Indefinitely For Repeat Infractions

There is no question that many hockey leagues are working to eliminate some of the violent behaviour that used to be commonplace in the game of hockey. Now, the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL) has taken it one step further, banning a well-known enforcer for repeat suspensions.

Daniel Amesbury has become a micro-celebrity in the hockey world for his toughness and fighting. However, that has also now cost him. The FPHL has just suspended Amesbury indefinitely for his repeat suspensions this season. Here's what they had to say about it.

"Effective immediately, the FPHL has decided to place Daniel Amesbury on an Indefinite Suspension from the league. He will no longer be allowed to participate in any practices or on ice functions at any capacity with any team in the FPHL. This decision has come after much discussion over the past few weeks with members of our league Board of Governors, attorney's, & FPHL Staff. The leagues dedication to improving player safety comes first and foremost. The FPHL has the right to deny any personnel from participating in FPHL games if its deemed in the best interest of the league."

Amesbury No Longer Able to Rack Up Penalty Minutes

Amesbury has made his name of being a pure enforcer, not doing much on the ice besides racking up the penalty minutes. In just 9 games this year, Amesbury has a whopping 72 penalty minutes. Last season he tallied 298 minutes in 29 games, over 10 minutes in penalties per game.

With hockey changing, the FPHL is taking things into its own hands to prevent this type of pure enforcer from playing in the league. Do you think this is right?
