The Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel has been involved in plenty of trade rumors in the last few days. Currently playing through the last season of his contract, the player will surely ask for a big raise for his next deal and the Penguins could decide to trade him if they can't reach a deal.

Guentzel, who's been amazing for the Penguins in the past eight years, has become a superstar in Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Erik Karlsson's shadows.

In 488 career games, he scored 454 points. With 40 points in 35 games this season, he continues to show that he could be the future of the Penguins. However, he also attracts the interest of many teams, who could make trade offers to Kyle Dubas.

That raised questions about what the Penguins could ask for him on the trade market.

Insider Shares High Price to Pay to Get Guentzel on the Trade Market

A new report suggests that Kyle Dubas and the Penguins could ask as high as a 1st round pick, a top prospect, and a player for the 29-year-old forward.

"Dhaliwal says the cost of Jake Guentzel is a 1st rounder, a top prospect, and a player."

Guentzel certainly benefited from playing alongside Crosby for so many years. Can he reach the same level without him?

It happened to Jonathan Huberdeau, who went from scoring 100 points with Aleksander Barkov to 55 in the next season with the Calgary Flames. He's also considered as one of the worst contracts in the NHL, with his $10,500,000 AAV.

Paying a top prospect, a player and a first round pick could be a lot for many people. However, he could play a valuable role with any team looking to make a long playoff run.
