Call this an old fashioned case of vigilante justice. A dirty hit in the AHL earlier this week resulted in Brandon Baddock of the Rockford IceHogs being a left a bloody mess as he was tossed from the game.

Hit in the AHL Leads to Player Bleeding Profusely

With the IceHogs taking on the Texas Stars, Brandon Baddock, a player known for throwing hands and taking liberties on opponents, drilled forward Logan Stankoven, who is in his first year of pro hockey. The hit was way late and Stankoven never saw it coming. His teammates weren't happy, understandably, and Baddock would be buried under a pile of players trying to get revenge. It's not totally clear what happened, but Baddock was a bloody mess by the time he managed to get up and leave the ice. It's believed Texas Stars' captain Curtis McKenzie was able to exact some justice. When the smoke cleared, Baddock was given a five minute major for the dirty hit, and a game misconduct for his actions.

Brandon Baddock Got What was Coming to Him Following Hit on Prospect

Stankoven was fine. There was no supplemental discipline for Baddock, which seems off considering the dirty hit. Stankoven was drafted in the second round, 47th overall, in 2021. He just made the jump this season to the AHL after spending five seasons with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League. Baddock, 28, is a career AHLer whose only game in the NHL of his career came with the Montreal Canadiens in 2021-22. Baddock has a lengthy list of fights from his last eight seasons in the American Hockey League.
