William Nylander addressed the media for the first time today after signing a blockbuster contract, the largest in Maple Leaf history.

Nylander Says Toronto is Home and Would Love to Win a Cup There

With all the speculation around William Nylander's extension this season circulating, one thing was pretty clear from the outset, that Nylander wanted to stay in Toronto. With the Leafs announcing today that Nylander will be in Toronto for the next 8 years, that is a reality.
Officially official: William Nylander lands the largest total value contract in #leafs history at $92-million over eight years ($11.5M AAV).

The deal includes a full no-movement clause and significant signing bonus payments, per sources.
Whether you think that is too much for a player like Nylander is one thing, but it is clear that the Leafs' upper management loves him and wanted him to stay, and were willing to pay for it.
Nylander recently discussed his contract with the media after the Leafs practice today.
Nylander says «the ultimate dream» would be to win a Cup and retire a Maple Leaf.

Nylander also noted that the entire process of signing the extension went really smoothly, from start to finish.

Teammates Have Faith in Nylander's Ability to Play in Toronto

Leafs captain John Tavares was also asked about the contract negotiations and what he thinks about Nylanderes current play. He believes that Nylander was built to play in Toronto, showing his full faith in the way the negotiations went down.
Tavares on Nylander living up to the deal and playing in Toronto: «I don't know if I've ever met anyone who has the confidence like him. I mean that in the best way possible.»
Now it is up to Nylander to live up to the massive expectations that he will have and continue his red-hot season.
