Connor Bedard was recently named to the NHL All-Star game this season, making history as the youngest player ever to receive the honor. Unfortunately, he will not be able to participate as he recently suffered a fractured jaw. Now the Blackhawks will look to replace him with an unlikely candidate.

Depth Forward To Replace Bedard At All-Star Game?

The Blackhawks have not provided a timeline for Connor Bedard's return from his fractured jaw, but it seems pretty evident that he will not be able to participate in next month's All-Star game. As such, the team will look to send a replacement to join the 18-year-old as their on-ice participant. The player in question? It could be none other than Jason Dickinson. While there has not been an official announcement yet, fans are speculating that Dickinson will get the nod as he is now the team's leading goal scorer with Bedard out of the lineup.

Dickinson Scoring At Career-Best Rate

In fairness, Dickinson is scoring at a career-best rate, as he currently has 13 goals and 20 points in 40 games this season, putting him on pace for 26 goals, nearly tripling his career best 9, which he achieved last season.

Sick wrister Jason Dickinson on the power play. His 13th of the season (already a career-high). #Blackhawks

The Blackhawks, devoid of any top-end talent in their forward group, have given Dickinson more ice time than he's ever gotten this season. He has rewarded them with a suddenly-found scoring touch that could lead him to his first career All-Star appearance. There are not really many other options other than Seth Jones, but he is also currently injured and has not played particularly well this season with just 11 assists in 27 games.
