Most fans likely wouldn't be pleased if one of their new acquisitions found themselves benched during an intense game. Toronto Maple Leafs fans might just be breathing a sigh of relief with this one, though.

Reaves Finds Himself Planted on the Bench during Game Between Maple Leafs and Lightning

Much has been said about Ryan Reaves and his three-year contract with the Maple Leafs in just a short while this season. Reaves, who's getting $1.35 million each year, has been criticized for his lack of ice time and for not responding when the team needs it the most. In a while game tonight that saw Toronto erase a 4-1 deficit to end regulation at 5-5, Reaves has not played since around midway through the second period.

Maple Leafs Coach Benches Reaves in Game Against Lightning

No one's expecting Reaves to be the team's top scorer or best defensive player. However, he was brought on to bring some added toughness and energy to the team. That has been sorely lacking in his short time in Toronto so far.
