Ilya Samsonov's Angry Breakdown After Getting Pulled Goes Viral

Tonight the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Tampa Bay Lightning. Samsonov got his 7th start of the season. Heading into the game Samsonov was struggling with a 3.56 goals against average and a 0.871 save percentage. Unfortunately for Samsonov and the Maple Leafs, tonight would be no different.

In the first period of the game tonight, Ilya Samsonov was pulled. After the Maple Leafs went up 1-0 Samsonov would go on to give up 4 consecutive goals in the same period. His frustrating night led to a major angry breakdown after he got pulled.

After being pulled by head coach Sheldon Keefe Ilya Samsonov was furious. He let his frustrations and rage show when he slammed his helmet into the bench.

The Maple Leafs will need to have a serious discussion about their goaltending tandem if things don't improve immediately. Samsonov has been atrocious in his appearances and Woll has had an up-and-down NHL season so far. Now of course the defense for the Maple Leafs hasn't done either goalie any favors so far.

The Maple Leafs need to look at significant upgrades if they're planning to be contenders. This could either be on the blue line or in the net. With the current landscape of the NHL finding worthwhile defensemen will likely be less costly. However, if the Maple Leafs want to make a splash the goalie position is probably the place to look.
