Hockey is one of the most physical sports on earth, and the players go through unimaginable pain at times, but unfortunately, some players take that to an unnecessary level with dirty hits.

A former top pick laid out

During the matchup between the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils, defenseman Connor Clifton laid out former No. 1 overall pick Nico Hischer with one of the dirtiest hits we've seen this season.

#Sabres defender Connor Clifton assessed match penalty for hit to head of #NJDevils forward Nico Hischier.

For this seemingly intentional hit to the head, the 28-year old was assessed a match penalty, and deservedly so, and as for Hischer, we hope that he's okay after the brutal hit to the head, something that the NHL have been desperately trying to get out of their game for years.
