The Oilers have gotten off to a poor start. After seven games they are just 1-5-1, ahead of only the San Jose Sharks in the pacific division. The dropped their last game in embarrassing fashion, losing 3-0 to the Rangers with Jonathan Quick in net. making matters worse, Connor McDavid is is out for at least a week. As such, tensions in Edmonton are rising.

Nurse Goes Off In Post-Game Interview

Oilers fans let their team hear it following the loss as boo birds rained down on the team. Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse lead the team in frustration as he let it all air out post-game following the 3-0 loss.
"You can't win in this League If you're not bringing 60 minutes efforts," he said. It's as simple as that. We have to reset, and can't feel sorry for ourselves. We can move on. We gotta be better, like to a man. That's as simple as that. That's the dialogue, everyone knows. You know, it's easy to point fingers and what not. Like, I mean we got everyone just looking in the mirror at this point. We have to be a whole lot f***ing better."
The Oilers were expected to lead the Pacific division coming into this year. While it is still early, this start is highly troubling, especially with McDavid out for at least a couple more games. The fact that they have just two more points than the league-worst San Jose Sharks should be a major wake up call to everyone in Edmonton at this point in the season. Seven games isn't a ton, but it is a big enough sample size to determine that their chances of winning the division are in the toilet, especially with Vegas running at an undefeated pace.
