The NHL made a major announcement regarding the future of the entry draft today. It is a move that will send shockwaves around the league.

NHL Shifts To Remote Style Draft

NHL insider Elliotte Freidman made the announcement on 32 thoughts today, stating that the league's general managers had voted in favor of eliminating the in-person draft.
There will still be a central location where the draft eligible players are and a stage where they will walk onto as they are drafted. Each team will have a representative present to great their picks.
It is a style of draft that other leagues, namely the NFL and MLB have been using for awhile.
Each organization's scouting teams will be in their home cities and they will call in to the central location to announce their selections to the league who will then make the announcement for the fans.
The move has come with a lot of criticism, including from Freidman himself, who noted that the change would have major impacts on the scouting world.
The draft was always the biggest networking event of the year for scouts and fans of the draft-eligible players.
