Flames Top Prospect Out Long-Term

Flames prospect Jeremie Poirier is out indefinitely the team announced this morning. The news comes after their AHL affiliated Wranglers game last Saturday in which Poirier's arm was cut by a skate in a scary scene.
Poirier is one of the Flames best prospects. Since he was drafted 72nd overall in 2020, he has developed better than expected. He currently sits second in the entire AHL in points among defenseman, although he will surely fall down that list as he recovers from surgery. The Flames organization is currently dealing with many injuries which is testing their depth on defense, especially with Rasmus Andersson still serving his four-game suspension.
