The star goaltender never quite managed to get his Cup in New York, even after being so close in 2014, but in 2021 he was forced to retire after having open heart surgery.
New York's King retired with a stellar record of 459-310-96 with a .918 save percentage and 2.43 GAA to go along with a Vezina Trophy and several All-Star appearances, and now, the King returns to the ice.

It has now been officially announced however that Lundqvist will suit up once again as he has been announced for the 2023 Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic.
