After missing most of last season due to a torn ligament in his knee. Andrei Svechnikov was hoping to be in the lineup for the season opener.

Svechnikov To Miss Start of Regular Season

However Andrei Svechnikov will be forced to miss the start of the season as per Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour the Russian forward has not been cleared by medical staff.
Brind'Amour confirms Svechnikov was not cleared by the medical staff. He'll miss the opener, and he probably won't travel with the team on their road trip.
When in the lineup the Hurricanes look to be one of the favorites for the Stanley Cup this season. The 23-year-old played 64 games last season tallying 23 goals and 55 points during that span and was heavily missed by the Canes in the post-season.
With the regular season starting tonight, the quest for the cup begins once more.
