Phil Kessel will receive a contract before the season begins and it has likely become narrowed down to two teams.

Kessel's Landing Spot Narrowed Down

It is no secret that Phil Kessel wants to continue playing hockey for at least one more season. He has made it clear that he is willing to lose his Ironman streak in order to make a team next season even as a bottom-six forward.
According to NHL Trade Rumors, it has been narrowed down to two teams, the Calgary Flames and the St. Louis Blues.
Both teams make some sense for Kessel considering everything that has happened to both recently.

Why They Make Sense

The Flames make sense as they just lost forward Jakub Pelletier long-term with a brutal shoulder injury.
Here is the the hit Jakob Pelletier took. Hope he is ok!
The Flames will have the roster space to sign Kessel and with a figure like him that knows what it takes to win, he could help become a locker room leader in a room with very few cup champions.
St. Louis also makes sense given their lack of bottom six scoring. Most of their offense is run through their top six and that means they do not have much skill in the bottom six consisting mainly of grinders.
If Kessel joins them, he could become a third-line option that helps provide goalscoring on a consistent basis.
