As we draw closer and closer to the beginning of the 2023-24 NHL season, it's a surprise that Tomas Tatar is still without a team. However, the latest move by the veteran forward may show what his decision is.

Agent Change

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Tatar has decided to switch agents, signing on with Newport Sports Management. NSM just happens to be the agency that also represents Josh Bailey, Cal Clutterbuck, Casey Cizikas, Matt Martin, Bo Horvat, J.G. Pageau, Zach Parise -- all current or recent members of the New York Islanders.

Consistency

Tatar has been very consistent in the regular season, scoring 20+ goals six times in his career. However, his playoff ability has been brought into questions after lack of production in a few appearances. During Montreal's run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2021, Tatar played just five games before being benched for the rest of the post-season.

Tatar just finished a two-year deal with the New Jersey Devils that paid him $4.5 million per season. In an interview earlier this summer, he said his demand for a multi-year deal is likely the reason he hadn't been signed yet, adding that he was now working on one-year offers.
