Matvei Michkov is once expected to head on loan in the KHL following a lack of available minutes, according to reports.

Michkov Back On Loan In KHL

Michkov, the Flyers 2023 1st Round Pick, is reportedly headed on loan from his Russian club SKA St. Petersburg to fellow KHL outlet HC Sochi, which Michkov spent time with last season on loan, according to Russian media reports.

SKA struggled with finding minutes for the young star, who has only played 1 of SKA's 4 matches this season, only getting 6:12 TOI. Similarly, Michkov only appeared in 3 matches for SKA before his loan move to Sochi last year.

After 3 scoreless matches with SKA last season, Michkov scored 9 Goals & 20 Points in 27 Games for Sochi, breaking the PPG record for a Russian Draft Eligible player (0.67) previously held by Vladimir Tarasenko. 2024 Draft Top Prospect Ivan Demidov, who has been scoreless in 3 games, could be the next potential departure from SKA but has not been involved in any news about a potential loan deal as well.

Drafted 7th Overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, Michkov will likely get top-six minutes for Sochi, who finished last in the KHL in 2022-23, in last place by 17 points, and having started the season 1-3-0.
