A 2016 first-round pick has been given one final chance to save his NHL career.

Carolina Signs Bellows

It was just announced that the Carolina Hurricanes have signed Kieffer Bellows to a PTO.

The #Canes have signed forwards Kieffer Bellows and Jayden Halbgewachs to professional tryouts.

The two join Cory Conacher, Brendan Perlini, Nick Shore, and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu as PTOs coming to Carolina's training camp.

Bellows' NHL Struggles

After being drafted 19th overall in 2016, ahead of notable players like Tage Thompson, Jordan Kyrou, and Alex DeBrincat, Bellows has struggled to adjust to the NHL level.

Bellows has played in 4 seasons registering 28 points in 95 games. His most successful season came in 2021-22 where he played in 45 games and registered 19 points.

Last season, he was placed on waivers by the Islanders and claimed by the Flyers where he played 27 games with them and scored only 3 goals averaging less than 10 minutes a night.

He will now look to prove himself with the Hurricanes and eventually earn an NHL contract, otherwise, his NHL career may be as good as over.
