The Calgary Flames have been very busy this offseason signing names like defenceman Chris Tanev and goaltender Jacob Markstrom. However, TSN's Darren Dreger said GM Brad Treliving isn't done yet and is looking for a specific piece for the team's blueline.

"They like the fact that they've got good, young developing players that are ready to move to the next level," said Dreger. "But Brad Treliving would also like to add an experienced right-side defenceman. More likely does that by trade than free agency but everything is possible at this point."

"They like what they've done up front, they're deep up front," continued Dreger. "So he's not dealing from a position of absolute need here, it's just making the Calgary Flames that much better and that much deep[er]."

The Flames lost longtime rearguard T.J. Brodie, who played the right side on the club's top pair, in free agency this offseason when he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. That leaves just Tanev and Rasmus Anderson on the right side. Calgary has just $1 million in cap space currently, so plugging that hole will most likely require a trade.

Calgary finished 17th defensively in 2019-20, allowing 3.03 goals against per game.
