To be completely honest, after the season the Ottawa Senators had in 2019-20, there was hardly anywhere to go but up. However, the Senators have been ultra-aggressive this offseason, adding some notable names to the team while ensuring there is space for their young draft picks to develop. The Sens have added goaltender Matt Murray via trade with Pittsburgh, while signing names like Evgenii Dadonov and Alex Galchenyuk via free agency. There's also, of course, 3rd overall draft pick Tim Stuetzle to consider. TSN Insider Frank Seravalli is a big fan of the direction the team is going in.

On TSN's "That's Hockey", Seravalli stated no one has had a better offseason than the Ottawa Senators. He also reports that after signing Galchenyuk, the Sens might not be done. He was adamant that the team is kicking tires on a few other names, including Corey Perry. Seravalli said there is mutual interest from Perry in joining the team.

In addition to the previously mentioned moves, the Senators also managed to pick up Austin Watson via trade with the Nashville Predators, while signing winger Connor Brown to a new three-year deal. On the backend, the team added Josh Brown, Erik Gudbranson and Artem Zub.

Whether these signings and trades will get Ottawa anywhere near the playoffs this coming season remains to be seen. However, it's not hard to imagine the team competing for a playoff spot in the next couple of years given names like Thomas Chabot, Brady Tkachuk and others who are improving year over year. Right now, Ottawa appears to be on the right track and should be a much better team than last year.
