One of the newest members of the Colorado Avalanche has been signed to a new deal. Devon Toews, who was a restricted free agent, has a new four-year contract with Colorado with an average annual value of $4.1 million.

Toews was picked up by the Avalanche from the New York Islanders on October 12th in exchange for a 2021 and 2022 second-round draft pick. The Islanders simply didn't have the cap room to keep the 26-year-old. Toews is a late bloomer, but his first two seasons in the NHL turned some heads. The blueliner posted 11 goals and 35 assists in 116 games and his defensive game has been has been very sharp.

According to CapFriendly, Toews new contract will pay him $2.35 million next season, $3.55 million in 2021-22, $4.6 million in 2022-23 and $5.9 million in the last year of the deal.

Toews and Colorado were scheduled to go before an arbitrator on October 31st.
