Per NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the New York Islanders and forward Josh Ho-Sang have settled their arbitration case. The two sides were able to agree on a one-year, two-way deal that will pay him $700,000 at the NHL level and $225,000 at the AHL level.

Ho-Sang, 24, had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Oct. 30, but the two sides were able to agree on a deal before that took place. Though he has not appeared in an NHL game since the 2018-19 season, the Toronto, Ontario native gets talked about often due to both his high skill along with his reportedly poor attitude. Last season saw him appear in just 22 AHL games, as he held out for a long portion of the year in hopes for a trade which ultimately never came to fruition. In those 22 games, split between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the San Antonio Rampage, he posted 13 points in 22 games.

Ho-Sang has had red flags around his name for quite some time, which is the reason he fell all the way to the end of the first round (28th) at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. There have been many different incidents, ranging from being sent home early from training camp due to sleeping in on a team skate, to calling out Hockey Canada after not being selected for the World Junior team. There is no doubt he has the talent to play at the NHL level, so the hope here is that he has matured and can be a valuable asset to the Islanders this upcoming season. In 53 career NHL games he has seven goals and 24 points.
