Longtime Coyotes' captain Shane Doan has been in talks with the Arizona Coyotes regarding a Front Office position.

After retiring, Doan joined the NHL's hockey operations department but has not received a job offer as of yet. This is the role he will be expected to fill for the Coyotes.

Doan was named captain in 2003 after captain Teppo Numminen left the organization. He served as captain for 14 years.

Doan is the franchise leader in games played, goals, assists and points. He scored 402 goals and 570 assists for 972 points in 1540 games played. He retired at the end of the 2016-17 season after spending all 21 seasons of his NHL career with the Coyotes.

Doan was drafted 7th overall in 1995 by the Winnipeg Jets; who then became the Coyotes. He played his junior hockey in the WHL for the Kamloops Blazers. He was an All-Star twice and won the King Clancy as well as the Mark Messier Leadership Award. However, he never won a Stanley Cup.
